Subject | 15% reduction too high |
Comment | Staff's recommendation for 15% reduction reaches too far. It will convert more people and cities into opponents of SB375/AB32 which are already at risk from political opposition. Further, it will create economic chaos. Phase in. Include methods to fund the public transit that is necessary. Or include methods to fund the housing for the millions who will have to relocate from the suburbs to the cities. And include methods to address the economic devastation to the bedroom counties. A high target puts Federal funding for public transit at risk. If we don't met these high targets, we don't get money. Without money for transit, we can't meet targets. Don't design California for failure. Pick a more reasonable target. --Jean Dresden |
