Subject | AB 32 early action measures |
Comment | I am writing as an advocate for early action to implement Assembly Bill (AB) 32. Moving quickly to reduce global warming pollution is vital. Your and my commitment to the success of AB 32 will help meet the set goals. GHG emission reduction is vital and the fuel standard included on your priority list should have a profound effect. Please ingore the lobby and make it happen. The world is watching. California has significant air pollution problems. AB 32's GHG reduction strategies will have a postive impact on this problem. Diesel fumes are proven to be a carcinogen, and a reduction of them should be on of your early action measures. Better technologies were developed under the SmartWay Transport program and widespread adoption of those technical improvements might result from an early action measure. Diesel anti-idling enforcement by a larger number of dedicated field staff is also needed. I want to see firm deadlines for the measures, to see real commitment and dedication from the Board to AB 32. In particular, dates for adoption of the port rules, especially shoreside power, must not slip for any reason in any region. I stand with other Californians in support of full and strong implementation of AB 32 and a comprehensive program to meet all of the goals of the statute. Thank you for your consideration. |
