Clovis Unified School District strongly supports the San Joaquin
Valley Air Pollution Control Districts proposal to consider school
buses in the Fleet Modernization component of the Carl Moyer
program. We request that the ARB staff bring this to the board
during the Lower Emission School Bus presentation later this week
for review and ask for the boards approval. The SJVAPCD has always
supported the Lower Emission School Bus program which helps to
reduce inside compartment diesel emissions with the purchase of
new clean burning school buses. Without this support, money
strapped school districts through out our region would no longer
be able to purchase new school buses. The offsetting dollars that
this funding program has provided in the past, has allowed school
districts the opportunity of replacing these older more polluting
diesel school buses with new clean burning school buses. It is the
right thing to do for our kids.
