Subject | Tire Pressure Regulation |
Comment | Dear CARB, I have provided information in the past at the hearings held at the Sacramento EPA Building. The concern regarding the airing of "hot" tires versus tires which have had enough time to cool still has not been addressed. Also Auto Body repair facilities continue to be exempt from this regulation. As the facilities dealing with vehicles which have been involved in accidents and in many cases have sat for weeks at a a time, tire pressure must be checked for not only the environmental impacts but also for the safety of the drivers. To continue to exempt them is ridiculous. Finally, to create a regulation which would subject auto repair facilities to fines and penalties while not holding consumers to those very same standards is not fair. Suggest ARB consider scraping this regulation in favor of adding a simple requirement to any organization providing auto service to check and adjust tire pressure. The only exception would be when tires are worn or damaged to the extent they are not safe. At that point, the consumer should be given a written notice to be signed by them, and a report given to the local police authority. Thank you for this consideration. |
