Subject | Electric Cars are extremely important for California |
Comment | Dear Ms. Nichols, I am very concerned to hear that the California ARB Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) program may be changed from mandating 25,000 vehicles from 2012-2014 to only 2,500. California consumers need to have more choices to buy electrically powered cars. A wider option for buying ZEVs will result in cleaner air and a reduction of dependence upon foreign oil - two goals vital to our state. Additionally, it will help support California based businesses like Tesla Motors who are currently shipping highway capable ZEVs. Past experience has shown the CARB ZEV program is crucial in making a choice of highway capable ZEVs readily available. While ZEV and battery technology has grown considerably in recent years, today's consumer has much less ZEV choice than the consumer of 8 or 10 years ago. Please recommit to requiring the full 25,000 ZEVs previously promised. Additionally, please create a separate requirement for Plug-in hybrid vehicles which allows them to replace dirtier vehicles. Sincerely, Graham Orndorff Aptos, California |
