Subject | Zero Emission Vehicle Regulation |
Comment | Sirs/Ladies, We have waited too long for car companies to clean up their act voluntarily. With recent improvements in battery technology, and the successful development of electric vehicles such as the Tesla Roadster and the Phoenix SUT, there is no longer any excuse to delay the implementation of mandates for cleaner vehicles. Clean cars are possible, and if two California startup companies can do it, why can't GM, Ford, and Toyota? I believe this is one issue that a majority of voters, both Democrat and Republican, are united on. We are tired of excuses for why these cars are not available. We landed a man on the moon in 10 years, for God's sake, why can't the major car companies make a zero emission vehicle? We are also tired of paying our hard earned money to Middle Eastern terrorists, and greedy American oil corporations. What will the price of gasoline have to be before our representatives spring into action and demand an alternative? Finally, we are no longer interested in whether or not global warming is for real. It doesn't matter. What does matter is that clean cars equal better health for all of us. Isn't that reason enough to do the right thing? The question is, does C.A.R.B. represent the people of California, or does it represent the automobile industry? If you believe the latter, my question to you is what is your reason for existence? I urge C.A.R.B. to maintain (or increase) the current mandate for zero emission vehicles. Whatever you do, please do not weaken it. Thank you John Landwehr |
