Background

The ARB evaluates and tests new or modified vapor recovery systems. These systems recover the gasoline vapors generated while fueling vehicles in a service station. The goal of the program is to assure that the vapor recovery systems which meet the stringent certification requirements are certified expeditiously.

Public Workshop to Discuss Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) Enhanced Vapor Recovery Regulatory Advisory and Rulemaking
On April 28, 2014, April 30, 2014, and May 1, 2014, the Air Resources Board will hold a workshop to discuss the aboveground storage tank Regulatory Advisory issued on February 28, 2014 and proposed changes to the AST regulations.

On March 7th, 2014 and March 14th, 2014, the California Air Resources Board (ARB or Board) staff is holding two public workshops to discuss proposed changes to Enhanced Vapor Recovery (EVR) regulations for gasoline dispensing facilities equipped with underground storage tanks.

Regulatory Advisory for Enhanced Vapor Recovery (EVR) on Aboveground Storage Tanks (AST)
The Air Resources Board (ARB or Board) staff has issued a Regulatory Advisory related to the upcoming deadline for existing Aboveground Storage Tanks (AST) to upgrade to Phase I Enhanced Vapor Recovery (EVR). The Regulatory Advisory will provide relief from Phase I EVR requirements for many ASTs. Staff has also developed a list of answers to frequently asked questions about the AST EVR Regulatory Advisory.

2013 Vehicle Test Matrices
Several 2013 test matrices of conventional vehicles were prepared to be used in certifying Phase II vapor recovery systems by ARB.

ARB and Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District staff will conduct an outreach event on Wednesday, December 18th, in Sacramento, California.

ARB and San Diego County Air Pollution Control District staff will be conducting outreach on December 6, 2013 in San Diego.
