The attached study was released last month and provides important
data on the real world testing of 25 battery electric vehicles in
California and Georgia. Ryder found that the current battery
electric vehicle technology is significantly more expensive to own
and operate. This is in contrast to the positive economics that the
Board declared upon adoption of the Advanced Clean Fleets
Regulation and the accompanying Total Cost of Ownership. The Board
is requested to direct staff to review the Ryder study and return
with an informational item on battery electric vehicle costs. Thank
