Honorable Board Members;
This is a superior idea. It has been interesting to read responses
to my advocacy of planting and replanting California forests
following decimation by drought, disease,climate change, and fire.
Many people are apparently looking for that single transformative
solution that preserves the natural world; and by extension their
lifestyles. So they opine that planting trees cannot change our
world climate. Naturally, this is true, and never proposed in the
first place. It is an interesting comment, however.
Proposals such as tfs2019 should consider inclusion of statements
indicating that it is part of a broad set of interrelated actions
,laws and regulations, which acting together will provide
intervention toward significant mitigation and adaptation.
Please also consider a parallel endorsement providing functional
and concrete support for reforestation broadly.Firefighting is not
enough. We cannot necessarily replant what has been lost, for the
very reasons outlined in tfs2019. We have to follow the
horticultural and fire science on this; however we will
desperately, universally need the carbon sequestration, the
shading, the habitats, and the oxygen in the coming decades.
