Dear Friends,
As you know, on the 24th of May the ARB is going to be voting
regarding a new rule in order to reduce air pollution from
construction equipment in California.
This new rule is perfect timing!!
Because construction equipment is the second largest source of
diesel pollution in the state, accounting for 20% of particulate
matter
(soot) and 16% of smog-forming Nitrogen Oxides (NOx)--they are the
two biggest pollution hazards for public
health in California and the world for that matter...
This new rule should prevent thousands of unnecessary premature
deaths as I am sure you are aware of the hazards of this
construction equipment pollution".
This will reduce health care between 18-26 billion dollars .
The most polluted areas of California, L.A. and San Joaquin Valley
could actually attanin federal air quality standards!!!
Wouldn't that be great!!!
I strongly support stronger air standards for California's
contruction equipment.
Thank you for your attention,
Sincerely,
Carolina Casperson
