Subject | Medium Speed Electric Vehicles |
Comment | One of the main obstacles to getting consumers to purchase electric vehicles is the outmoded law based on golf cart style NEVs that prohibits the new generation of MSEVs from entering the normal flow of city traffic. These cars have safety features (seat belts, welded aluminum frames) that allow them to be driven safely at 35mph increasing their usefulness (and utimately their drivers' safety). The law should be brought up to speed with the new technology, creating a viable alternative to gasoline powered cars for short haul urban and suburban driving. Don't let Detroit dictate what vehicles Californians will drive. Beyond simple licensing these vehicles could be given incentives including free parking at meters, free charging stations, etc. |
