| Comment | Today, the City of Berkeley launched a partnership with 3Prong
Power and City Carshare to provide a PHEV vehicle for City
employees and the public.
Now I learn that this single vehicle would use up 10% of the Tier
1 PHEV ceiling for 3Prong, a Berkeley-based business.
This is unacceptable, and a rather absurb ceiling that will
completely stunt the growth of start-up businesses. These
businesses create green jobs which are vitally important to
California.
Please support the California Plug In Hybrid conversion industry
by raising the Tier 1 ceiling to 100 vehicles up from the currently
proposed 10.
We cannot rely solely on the motor vehicle manufacturers to
innovate - especially if it does not create jobs here. ARB also
cannot in good conscience hold up PHEV industry because of
air-quality emissions testing on a technology that is inherently
less polluting. The irony is fairly stunning, don't you think?
I hope ARB will do the right thing and raise the Tier 1 ceiling to
100.
Thank you,
