SubjectReduce the amount of plastic in new model vehicles and vehicle parts
Comment

Due to the VOC emissions from plastic, air pollution in incinerating plastic and the accidents in methane and oil extraction that led to higher methane leakage than previously found, you should make rules reducing plastic in new model vehicles or tax the amount of plastic in vehicles.  Also, tax methane gas use in vehicles. If not possible then reduce vehicle miles travelled by job swaps. Give free EV mechanic training and EV business loans to all people who cannot find jobs within 7 miles of their home

Researchers from the Laboratory of Climate & Environmental Sciences in France over 2 years 2019-2020 found more than 1,800 large bursts of methane worldwide including in the US, often releasing several tons of methane per hour, which accounted for 8 - 12% of global methane emissions from oil & gas infrastructure during that time. (from article in the Morning Edition, Feb 3, 2022: A Satellite Finds Massive Methane Leaks From Gas Pipelines.

In 2020 Pioneers Natural Resources found 914 confirmed leaks of methane when it surveyed well heads, tank batteries, and compressor stations. Occidental Petroleum reported its 14,929 wellheads in the Permian Basin released 2,107,191 metric tons of methane + other GHGs. House Comittee on Science, Space, and Technology reported that the oil and gas industry have internal data showing their methane emissions in the Permian Basin are are likely significantly higher than official data indicators. (Reported by Steven Mufson in Washington Post, June 8, 2022).

Oil wastewater could cause more electric use by causing a need to filter drinking water to remove radium, lead, nickel, arsenic & hexavalent chromium. In 2020, in Plum Borough outside Pittsburg, PA where oil wastewater classified as hazardous radioactive waste was injected into sandstone, a resident, Katie Sheehan, said that she noticed changes in the color & taste of her well water after the injection well began operating. (reported by WESA).  In CA, there are plans to inject oil wastewater into an abandoned plugged oil well without CEQA and public review (reported by Sunflower Alliance)

The 20 diseases linked to oil, being near diesel traffic, & climate change could slow people's work in preventing climate change.
