| Comment | Human beings are facing the most extreme crisis of this
civilization. The effects of climate change will not be mitigated,
if at all, for decades to come. We must do all we can to end the
use of fossil fuels and all carbon-producing practices.
I am writing to you as a California resident. Please do not endorse
the California Tropical Forest Standard. Tropical forest offsets
must not be a part of California's Carbon Trading System, or
adopted by the International Commercial Aviation Organization or
other out of state entities.
These carbon offsets allow polluters to keep on polluting, instead
of reducing their carbon footprint. They also would alow airline
emissions to keep on growing.
California should not be encouraging tropical forest carbon offsets
through the endorsement of the TFS.
