I support your advanced truck regulation. Cutting down the
pollution for heavy truck and bus vehicles makes sense. Here are
some reasons I believe this is necessary.
o It is easier to convert fleets of vehicles than it is one at
a time.(light duty cars and trucks.
o Trucks and buses can have engines replaced economically
during the usage cycle. Autos are generally scrapped at
end of life.
o Trucks and buses represent a significant amount of
GHG reduction.
o We will not get to the CA goal of Carbon Neutral by 2045
without converting this segment to zero carbon fuel.
o Truck traffic tends to travel through disadvantaged areas.
Moving trucks and buses to electric means healthier air
for this segment of the population.
o Truck and bus refueling stations can be placed at
optimum locations. This makes large chagrins /fueling
stations more economically feasible.
o Diesel trucks and buses have Nitrogen dioxide in their
exhaust. Asthma comes in part from Nitrogen Dioxide.
o We are in the middle of the COVID crises. We see that
COVID aggressively attacks people with respiratory
diseases.
