Re: Suggestions for Early Action Measures
Dear Chairman Sawyer & Members of the California Air Resources
Board,
The proposed AB 32 Early Action Measures do not sufficiently
address the urgency of the global warming crisis.
The latest analysis published in the Proceedings of the US
National Academy of Sciences, published online on May 22, 2007,
(http://www.pnas.org/cgi/content/abstract/104/24/10288), shows the
observed data on CO2 emissions is increasing at a rate 50% higher
than the worst-case scenario considered by the UN IPCC. So
currently humanity is headed for a disaster beyond the most
catastrophic predictions. Clearly this is a planetary emergency
almost beyond our imagination. Any more burning of fossil fuels
is folly.
CARB must revise the Early Action Measures to move immediately
toward the elimination of fossil fuels.
I have attached a one page summary of the US National Academy of
Sciences article. Please read the full 7-page journal article.
Please consider this latest science in your recommendations.
Sincerely,
Jim Stewart, PhD, Organizing Director
