| Comment | As the President of a small business in Northern California and a
former Commissioner for economic development, I know how hard it is
to compete with businesses from other states and internationally.
Our company competes for business throughout North America in the
public transportation and work truck markets and employs over 30
families trying to make a living in California. The repercussions
of SB 375 would devastate our company and our employees as well as
our state’s economy.
The proposed greenhouse gas emission reduction targets under SB 375
are extremely restrictive and ultimately impossible to meet. The
California Air Resources Board targets would result in huge cost
increases for small businesses and average families, would place
huge financial and infrastructure burdens on local governments, and
would greatly hamper business development and growth.
We support lowering greenhouse gas emissions at an obtainable level
and realistic rate. SB 375, in its current format, is neither. I
implore you and the entire board to reconsider the targets and the
Draconian limits it would place on small businesses in California.
