Subject | EVSE 15-day Comments: DCFC verses HP DCFC |
Comment | There should be a Definition for High Powered (HP) Liquid Cooled DCFC chargers compared to the standard DCFC. The standard DCFC station will not charge a High Powered Liquid cooled vehicle, these vehicles can only be charged with the HP DCFC due to the higher voltage in the vehicle. There should be a distinction between the two; otherwise drivers will not know which type of DCFC charger is the station until they try to activate a charging session and it will not work. This will be confusing and could create poor EV experiences and potentially excessive down time. With the most recent and more advanced technology that includes the higher Power Ratings in these HP charging vehicles which is currently available in luxury cars, some MHD Trucks and Buses there needs to more accurate information among these two very different DCFC voltages. This will be the future and we are already seeing this technology in the Electrify America HP Charging stations, luxury vehicles (Porsche), and the Green Power Buses. |
