Comment | Hello, I am a committed environmentalist that bases my voting primarily on candidates Integrity & stance on Climate Change. However, we as a State & Country need to take a pragmatic yet rapid approach to how we evolve industries to tackle climate change without destroying them. If CARB is intent on completely removing the Sport Fishing Fleets existing vessels in short order, then I would say CARB needs to make provisions for replacement fishing vessels of equal quality, range, and capacity. Much like when the State takes over real estate in eminent domain cases, the owners of that real estate must be fairly compensated. This would make sport fishing businesses whole and preserve a vital part of the California economy and equally vital part of sport recreation in California as well. Whatever course of action is taken, it must preserve Sport Fishing and fairly compensate the fleet in the quest for transition to clean burning vessels. Sincerely, Pete Bilbrey |
