| Comment | Staff's recommendation for 15% reduction reaches too far. It will
convert more people and cities into opponents of SB375/AB32 which
are already at risk from political opposition. Further, it will
create economic chaos. Phase in. Include methods to fund the
public transit that is necessary. Or include methods to fund the
housing for the millions who will have to relocate from the suburbs
to the cities. And include methods to address the economic
devastation to the bedroom counties.
A high target puts Federal funding for public transit at risk. If
we don't met these high targets, we don't get money. Without money
for transit, we can't meet targets.
Don't design California for failure. Pick a more reasonable target.
