| Comment | California Air Resources Board -
I request that the proposed CARB regulation regarding Commercial
Harbor Craft be changed so as not to have such a severely negative
impact on Tourism and Sport Fishing boats. I support improving the
air quality in California. But I think new measures should be
subject to a cost benefit analysis. In this case I find it hard to
believe that the proposed regulations, when implemented will have a
significant impact. Especially with only a few hundred boats
subject to the change. However the costs to ocean sport fishing in
CA will be great. Most sport fishing operations are barely
profitable. If owners are forced to build new boats most will
simply go out of business.
If new boats are built the cost of a ticket will be way to high for
the average CA citizen. In fact it will be too costly for all but
the upper economic echelon.
Please don't kill this industry! Instead you should be focusing
your energy on much larger sources of pollution.
