| Comment | Air pollution is a major environment-related threat to children and
a risk factor for both acute and chronic respiratory disease in
adults. In 2006, ozone levels in the San Juoquin Valley exceeded
the federal eight-hour ozone standard on 86 days and the state one
hour standard on 90 days. California has 8 of the 10 most polluted
counties in the nation and of these eight counties, four are in the
San Joaquin Valley where I live. Steps must be taken now to reduce
the proportion of persons exposed to air that does not meet the US
Environmental Protection Agnecy's health based standards for ozone
to 0%.
