Subject | Mobile Source Re-entrainment |
Comment | It is time for California to consider mobile source re-entrainment and its ill effects on an unaware population. California must agresively deal with this issue before we contribute any more to particulate pollution. Particulate pollution Amplifies global warming by contributing to the build up of greenhouse gases. Street sweepers are not an effective mitigation strategy. A technology exists that is inexpensive and easily deployable. Dr. William Farrone states that: "There is no doubt that when enough vehicles are equipped with this system, the rate of removal of fine and ultr-fine particles could be greater than their rate of introduciton into the envorinment along roadways. Therefore, this system is a viable tool to help meet EPA ambient air standards for PM2.5 particles. If the governments' intention is to reduce human expore to fine particles, wide deployment of this system is justifiable." If California intends to protect its citizens, a pilot program to quantify the effectiveness of depolyment of this system is mandatory. |
