Subject | CLEANER AIR FOR CALIFORNIA !! |
Comment | Dear CARB, I support your agenda to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 25% by 2020. I believe that we can do even more, but this is a good starting place. The most promising way to reach this goal is to give consumers the choice to buy Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEVs), like the electric Tesla Roadster, the Toyota RAV4-EV, and others currently in development. Unfortunately, the California Air Resources Board's consideration of a proposal to reduce the number of ZEVs will lead us away from the goal of having cleaneer air in California! To lower the requirement of automakers by 90%, settling for only 2,500 from 2012-2014, will seriously impact the choice of the consumer. Please represent my views to CARB: 1. Require the full 25,000 ZEVs that automakers had promised for 2012-2014, and 2. Create a separate requirement for plug-in hybrids that encourages the automakers to replace the dirtiest vehicles in CARB's regulations, rather than the cleanest ZEVs. It is time that CARB strengthen the Zero Emission Mandate. Battery-Electric vehicles, and those that run entirely on CNG, have already helped to dramatically reduce the air pollution in this state, and the public health will certainly benefit by promoting their use in the future. Choice for consumers means cleaner air for everyone. Thank you for your consideration Sincerely, Martin Rosenstock |
