Have you never heard the saying: "Fool me once, shame on you; fool
me twice, shame on me"?

According to that sage bit of wisdom, the CARB staff should be
ashamed of themselves. The oil companies and car manufacturers
fooled them in 2003, when they convinced them to dilute its ZEV
mandate with the promise that hydrogen cars were "just around the
corner" --thus killing the electric car.

So... where are those promised hydrogen vehicles?

NOW they are again trying to pull the wool over CARB's eyes by
touting yet another substitute: a promised increase in the number
of hybrid vehicles.

We need ZERO-emission vehicles, not just REDUCED-emission
vehicles. And the irony is... we already have the technology in
the form of EVs! Indeed, we already had it back in 2003!

Tesla (with its Roadster), Subaru (with its R1e and G4e),
Mitsubishi (with its iMiEV and iMiEV Sport), Think (with its City
and Ox), Aptera (with its Typ-1 EV), Phoenix (with its SUV and
SUT) --to name only a few-- are obviously capable of producing
reliable, dependable, clean EVs. Why can't the major auto
manufacturers?

Contrary to your staff's report, the batteries ARE reasonably
priced, are becoming cheaper every day, and thus pure EVS are
indeed more affordable than ever before, depending upon the model:
Tesla at the high end at $92,000 for a Roadster, and Aptera at the
low end at $26,900 for a Typ-1 EV. BOTH companies are in
California, by the way!

In short, instead of reducing the required number of ZEVs by
2012-2014 by 90%, CARB should INCREASE it by 200%!

DON'T BE FOOLED AGAIN!
