Dear CARB,
Please mandate the production of battery electric vehicles by the
major car companies.  The original ZEV mandate was a monumental
step toward cleaning the California air and helping to curb our
addiction to foreign oil.  The auto makers have claimed that
hydrogen is the best alternative fuel but we need ZEVs NOW, not in
10 to 15 years.  If the auto makers would like to switch to
hydrogen when it does become economically feasible and is a better
alternative to battery electric vehicles, so be it.  In the time
being, it is imperative that they use CURRENT technology to
produce ZEVs now.  Please reintroduce the ZEV mandate without
falling victim to automaker and oil lobbyists.  Thank you for your
consideration.  I trust that you will make the right decision for
the future of our great state.
