Subject | Adoption of Amendments to the 2008 Amendments to the California |
Comment | I support your agenda to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 25% by 2020. The adoption of Amendments to the 2008 Amendments to the California Zero Emission Vehicle Regulation is needed. The best way to reach this goal is to give consumers like myself the choice to buy Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEVs), like the electric Tesla Roadster. I am a mother and a student. I need the vehicles to be affordable as well. Unfortunately, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) may reduce the number of ZEVs required of automakers by 90%, settling for only 2,500 from 2012-2014. Please ask your appointed CARB chair, Mary Nichols, to 1. Require the full 25,000 ZEVs that automakers had promised for 2012-2014, and 2. Create a separate requirement for plug-in hybrids that lets them replace the dirtiest vehicles in CARB's regulations, rather than the cleanest ZEVs. Choice for consumers means cleaner air for everyone. My children and I are a part of the group of people who are affected by the air quality. It is not fair that I have to use a large portion of my finances and public resources just to breathe and stay healthy. I am tired of going to hospitals and doctors for oxygen treatments and medications. My family and I need clean air and water so does everyone else. Sincerely, Adrienne Bridges |
