For typical urban commuter and shopping trips, the electric motor
is the most practical form of auto propulsion.  With advances in
batteries, electric vehicles will reduce global warming and
unhealthful air pollution more than any other proposed auto fuel
source (even accounting for the power plant pollution).  

As we have seen increasing investments in renewable energy as
fossil fuel prices have risen and with the growing understanding
of the dangers of global warming, maintaining California’s ZEV
requirements will spur the type of battery development that will
make electric vehicles practical and economical.
