Please hold to the current requirements for the Zero Emission
Vehicle Regulation.  Do NOT cut the number of ZEV cars - we need
*more* electric cars, not fewer.  Our petroleum-based
transporatation system pollutes the air and causes asthma, heart
disease, and cancer in our communities.  Kids in the Central
Valley can't walk to school because the air is so bad!  Where I
live in Humboldt County, I must ride my bike alongside the highway
to get to work and inhale CO2 emissions from all the cars and
trucks.  I sometimes wonder whether riding my bike is healthy
since I have to breathe so much pollution, but there's nowhere
else to go.

If any changes are to be made to the ZEV program, I urge you to
increase the number of ZEV cars required and add a provision for
plug-in hybrids.  We need to take action NOW, and past CARB
programs to require electric vehicles have shown that the
automobile industry is very capable of creating functional, safe,
and attractive cars that run on electricity.  Thank you for taking
the best action for clean air and for the future of our
communities.
