Subject | Zero Emission Vehicles |
Comment | Dear CARB, I write today to ask that the California Air Ressources Board not weaken the current Zero Emission Vehicle regulations. Zero emission vehicles not only reduce air pollution but aid in the fight against global warming. In fact now is the time to strengthten these requirements, not weaken them. I am currently looking to buy a new vehicle and cannot help but be extremely concerned with pollution and sky-rocketing gas prices. I would very much like to have the option to purchase a zero emission vehicle and reduce my own impact in these areas. However, this is unlikely to happen if automakers are only required to make 150 ZEV vehicles per year. Finally I fully support the staff's proposal to significantly increase the number of plug-in hybrids that must be produced and appreciate the staff's vision in including these cars in the ZEV requirements. A plug-in hybrid that has an all-electric range but that also runs on gasoline when the battery is empty, is a great option for consumers like me. |
