The Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) is what is right for California. I
was born and raised in the San Joaquin Valley and now after a long
career in the military I wanted to retire there, but the air
quality has gotten so bad I am forced to look elsewhere. The ZEV
technology is available now. Please adopt the ZEV mandate. 

It needs to be law because the the oil and automotive industries
don't hold the best interests of the people of californian. They
are obstructing progress towards cleaner air and reduced
dependency on oil. They fear the change because they will loose
much of their power. 

I am sure the benefits of ZEV will far outweigh any trumped up
financial crises that the oil and automotive industry has
presented. The California governement could save millions annually
if all the state vehicles were ZEV. The money people save from not
having to buy gas can be invested elsewhere. If you are worried
about loosing gas tax revenue, I would be happy to make up for the
loss in other taxable ways - increased auotomotive registration
fees for example.
