Comment | I support your agenda to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 25% by 2020. The most promising way to reach this goal is to give consumers the choice to buy Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEVs), like your electric Tesla Roadster. Unfortunately, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) may reduce the number of ZEVs required of automakers by 90%, settling for only 2,500 from 2012-2014. Please ask your appointed CARB chair, Mary Nichols, to 1. Require the full 25,000 ZEVs that automakers had promised for 2012-2014, and 2. Create a separate requirement for plug-in hybrids that lets them replace the dirtiest vehicles in CARB's regulations, rather than the cleanest ZEVs. Choice for consumers means cleaner air for everyone. i beleive it would be wise to figure out a way to ,in every major city, have outskirts city parking lots and rentals of very small (parkmeter pd)2 seater electric cars for city use. The only people driving themselves in the cities should be the multi disabled who don't have electric wheel chairs or scooters and the delivery people. wheelchairs and scooters should also be redesigned to be weatherproof and go longer distances. if medical medicaid hospital facilities were asked to have clinics open on weekends for med care, mds do those hours for internship at ER's anyway.. If drivers were given a huge insurance discount for only driving on saturday and sunday. This would also propel many to do adjustments in hours of business and driving and help with traffic congestion and doing the right thing. These are just beginning ideas, but we need them and many more. as well as encouragement and incentives to adopt children and adults who need help instead of making more children than the land can support. and leaving those who could ,but for needing help, in the road. From someone multi disabled you continue to leave in the road wihtout the scooter.... |
