I was fortunate enough to drive an electric car in LA 15 years ago
while consulting with ISE on their hybrid class 8 truck. Please do
not let big business or the ferderal government threaten you into
not getting what America needs. I have been sending emails to the
auto manufactures asking them to work toward a true plugin car.  I
think that a petroleum engine backup is a good idea but should not
be used until the batteries are depleted.  Many of my friends and
I will buy a true plugin not as a toy but to help the environment
and reduce US dependance on foreign oil. Hydrogen may have some
benefit but it still uses natural gas to create the hydrogen. It
may not be foreign oil but IT IS the same players.
