SubjectINCREASE REQUIREMENT FOR MORE ZERO EMISSION CARS AND TRUCKS
Comment
TO: CARB

As a very concerned Citizen, Taxpayer, and Voter, I am writing to
urge you in the strongest possible terms to increase protections
for the Public's health, and the health of our entire environment
by requiring vehicle providers to immediately expand very
significantly the number of ZERO EMISSION VEHICLES manufactured.

I further urge you to continue to impose regular, additional
increases in the number of this type of vehicle, both for all
types of cars AND trucks, until the vast majority of our vehicles
are zero emission models. The technology exists to achieve this,
and there is no justification whatsoever for public officials to
delay requiring its use. You must act aggressively in mandating
this change, in order to protect the common welfare of our
citizenry and of all the other species with whom we share this
land, many of which are vital to our own well-being and long-term
survival.

The time for action is now! Delaying corrective measures to stem
the extremely damaging emissions of the multiple pollutants
present in vehicle exhaust will result in exponentially
deleterious consequences, and such delay is completely
indefensible in the face of the overwhelming scientific evidence
of the harm these pollutants cause.

Accordingly, please do the right thing and force ongoing
improvements in vehicle emission controls starting NOW. Voluntary
action or guidelines for compliance are not acceptable, as the
vehicle manufacturers have amply demonstrated their entrenched and
to date, very effective, opposition to changing their damaging
behavior.

Thank you,
Monica Steensma
