Comment | I am sorry, I have completely lost faith in CARB and see it as a waste of taxpayers' money and an arm for auto and gas companies to twist easily to their benefit. No one ever addresses the incredible demands on California's electrical grid by oil refineries, nor are their heavy metal discharges mentioned in any environmental articles. We have, or more accurately, have had a wealth of smart people developing Electrical Vehicles leave the state due to non-support from governmental agencies. Other EV developers and builders have vehicles that could be running pollution free but for the inability to register them. California is losing it's cutting edge status and the state government is part of why. For years I taught overseas, lauding California's clean air laws only to return home and find a pall of SUV smog hanging over the San Francisco Bay. After living in a country where 80% of children had some level of lead poisoning due to foul air, this was a major disappointment. I was determined to buy an EV, only to find them pulled from the market, so I built an EV myself. As I share my experience with others I learn how lucky I was in being able to get my car registered and how just after I got on the road the rules became more strict.. THis is like communist China, one step forward, two steps back! Shame on CARB for its role in this reverse movement. I ahve no doubt that nothing beneficial to clean air will come out of this agency. I am only writing this on the behalf of my EV club. I am sure none of our input will even be considered. I think we should lobby for the end of CARB |
